Baby Support Pillow, Does You Baby Need One?

There are a few types of baby support pillows, the most famous being the Boppy Pillow.  Now does your baby need a support pillow?  The short answer is no, but it is a nice thing to have.  If money is tight this is a place to save, you really do not have to have a baby support pillow.  However, if you can afford it, I say to get one.

Bath Safety

Bath Safety is a very important topic.  Now of course you know that you should not leave the baby unattended in the bath even for a second.  But, did you know it only takes about 2 inches of water for a child to drown?  That is a scary thought.  To make sure that you do not have to turn your back on your baby for any reason make sure that you have all of your bath products in easy reach.  Make sure that you have your towels, baby soaps, wash clothes and whatever else you think you will need ready before you put the baby in.

Baby Bath

The first time you give your new baby a bath is a milestone moment.  We took pictures and video to mark the occasion for all three of our children.  The first baths you will give your baby will simply be sponge baths.  The reason for this is you cannot let the stump of the umbilical cord get wet.  So, until that stump falls off keep your baby out of the water.

Breastfeeding or bottle feeding? Part 2 My decision

I had a very hard time when it came to making this decision.  I knew that I really wanted to breastfeed, but just was not sure if I could do it.  My final decision was to breastfeed my children.  I am so glad that I made that decision.  Not only did we save tons of money by not having to buy formula, but it was a wonderful bonding experience.  I was actually sad each time I had to wean my children.  Now, I am not going to lie to you, it is not easy in the beginning.  If you choose to nurse your baby, the first two weeks can be very difficult.  Not only is this a learning experience for your baby, but it is a new one for you as well.  I can promise you though, that it does get easier.  In fact, in my opinion, I think it is easier than bottle feeding.  The milk is always ready, and travels well, there is no need for the baby to wait.  There are so many benefits to breastfeeding for both the mother and the child, I definitely think it is an option worth exploring.
