Car Seats, The Convertible Seat.

Since I have been talking about car seats, I figured I would keep with the theme and discuss the convertible seat.  This is the one car seat that is an absolute must have baby thing.  Once your baby has reached the height or weight limit for the infant seat you are going to have to switch to the convertible seat.

As I mentioned in an earlier post, the convertible car seat can be used in both the rear facing and forward facing positions.  The American Academy of Pediatrics now recommends that you try to keep your baby rear facing until the age of two, as it is much safer.  This can only be done with a convertible car seat.  These seats have higher weight and height limits than the infant seats do.  These seats typically come with a 5 point harness which is the safest harness you can use for your child.  They come in a wide variety of brands and have different options for each.  Again, the most important thing to think about is how safe the seat is.  You should do some research on the brands to see which are safer and do best in crash tests.

We purchased the Britax Roundabout for our convertible seat.  It does very well in the crash tests and seems to be very comfortable.  We have been very happy with this convertible car seat.

By the way, today is Mother’s Day, so I would like to wish all of you Moms and Moms to be that are reading this a Very Happy Mother’s Day!
