Baby Support Pillow, Does You Baby Need One?
There are a few types of baby support pillows, the most famous being the Boppy Pillow. Now does your baby need a support pillow? The short answer is no, but it is a nice thing to have. If money is tight this is a place to save, you really do not have to have a baby support pillow. However, if you can afford it, I say to get one.
I loved my Boppy Pillow. It was very useful when I was breastfeeding. I had big babies. My smallest was 8 lbs 12 ounces. In the middle of the night, my arms got tired, and using the Boppy to nurse was very convenient. My husband used the pillow for support when he bottle fed our daughter and sometimes when they were sleeping in his arms. They also make pillows designed for nursing that you can use.
There are a few different brands of baby support pillows, my personal preference is the Boppy. It is a stiffer pillow, and is very useful for supporting the baby as he/she gets older and is learning how to sit up. I would prop my babies in the pillow and give them a couple of toys to play with and they would be very happy. One word of caution though, DO NOT leave your baby unattended in the pillow or put the pillow in the crib. If the baby rolls into the pillow they could suffocate.
So, basically I think that baby support pillows are a nice thing to have. You do not need one, but it is a baby thing that will most likely be used often if your home.
