Baby Monitors
Most people today use baby monitors so that they can always hear their baby when the baby is in another room. Now, you may think that I am crazy, but we have three different monitors in our house. One for each child. Believe it or not, but my 6 year old still calls us when he wakes up, he will not just get out of bed. Not to mention, he has awful night terrors and has started sleep walking, so I much prefer to be able to hear the noises coming from his room so that I know he is OK. Anyway, back to the point of my post today, you will probably want a baby monitor, but which kind is best for you?
Well, their are two major differences in baby monitors. You can get monitors that you can hear the sounds, and you can get video monitors that allow you to see the baby and hear the baby. My personal preference is to skip the video monitors. They are usually much more expensive than the traditional sound monitor. Also, a video monitor would keep me up at night. I would always feel like I had to keep checking the monitor to see that the baby was OK. Now, you may feel better being able to see that baby and that of course is fine, but for me I was very content to skip the whole video thing.
Now when you pick out your monitor you will probably want to go with a decent quality digital monitor. There are so many electronics in household today, that you will most likely get interference if it is not a good quality monitor. We had tried a cheaper monitor and I was actually hearing my next door neighbors phone conversations. It would probably be a good idea to keep your receipt. Some brands will work better in you house than others depending on what you already have in the house. This way you can exchange it and give another one a shot. The last thing you want is to have to listen to a static all night over your baby monitor.
So, my personal preference is to have a baby monitor, skip the video, but get a good quality digital.
